Report on the Information Commons

The Free Expression Policy Project, a think tank based at NYU School of Law, recently released a report outlining the current state of the "Information Commons" and new models for increasing public access to information.  As the report notes, digital technology has enabled new forms of information sharing, but technology also "invites new forms of information enclosure."  The report considers several initiatives, like the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition and the Public Library of Science, that are building the foundation of such a commons.  Nancy Kranich (pictured right), former president of the American Library Association, produced the report, which is available on the Free Expression Policy Project webpage.
