We Hate Spam

The Pew Charitable Trust released a new study concluding that Americans don't like spam.  The report reveals that 77% of people say junk emails make being online unpleasant and that the CAN-SPAM Act -- federal legislation passed last year to reduce spam -- has done little to improve the problem of unsolicited commercial email.  As the Berkman Center's John Palfrey explains in a story on MSNBC, "I don’t know anybody who thinks CAN-SPAM is going to work.”  Still, ISPs are trying to go after spammers under the new legislation.  Last week, companies like AOL and Earthlink filed lawsuits against hundreds of alleged spammers.
