On the Ground at South by Southwest

This weekend, some of the biggest names in blogging, Internet innovation, and wireless technology have converged on the Austin Convention Center for South by Southwest Interactive. On Saturday, Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist, spoke about the importance of building trust in online communities. His site has spread to 35 cities with 4.6 million users a month. How can a community of this size avoid problems like spamming, gaming, and misuse? Newmark explained that, even though he has to deal with this type of problem on a daily basis, but the site belongs to users who can flag suspicious postings and help protect the integrity and local nature of Craigslist. True to the spirit of the interactive forum of the conference, Newmark blogged his presentation on his personal blog.
