ICTs in Learning: The Global Networked Readiness for Education Project

The Global Networked Readiness for Education project web site has been launched. Based on surveys about ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and education conducted in eleven countries, this project has created the world’s largest database of developing world user experiences with technology in schools and will hopefully play valuable role in advancing our collective efforts at monitoring and evaluation.

Through a creative combination of paper and electronic surveys (using software developed in Berkman’s own geek room), over 5000 secondary school students, teachers, heads-of-schools and computer lab supervisors shared their experiences using computers and the Internet. The site offers policymakers, researchers and others on-line interactive toolkits that can help in the planning and implementation process of incorporating ICTs into educational settings.
