RIAA Sues Users, Round 2

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) filed lawsuits against 532 people for alleged copyright violation in the use of illegal file-sharing services.  This is the RIAA’s second wave of lawsuits against users -- a move which, according to Prof. Jonathan Zittrain in a story by the New York Times, makes good on the recording industry’s promise “not to let up.”  The first round of suits raised concern about legal shortcuts in tracking users' identities.  Now the RIAA must obtain court-approved subpoenas before ISPs can identify users.  Read the full New York Times story.
