Urs Gasser Joins Berkman Center as Research Fellow

The Berkman Center is pleased to welcome Urs Gasser as a Fellow for the 2003-2004 school year. At the Berkman Center, Urs' research agenda, among other projects, includes the Digital Media Project. As a lawyer trained both in Europe and the US, Urs focuses on the question how national and regional regulatory and legal frameworks -- primary in Western Europe and in developed nations in Asia/Pacific -- will support or hinder global media services. In a further step, the scenarios presented in the recently released report on "Copyright and Digital Media in a Post-Napster World" by GartnerG2 and the Berkman Center will be evaluated from the perspective of international copyright law and information law.

Urs holds an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School and obtained his S.J.D. (Dr.iur.) from the University of St. Gallen, where he has served as the Executive Manager of the Research Center for Information Law.
