The BKC Geeks are looking for a tech savvy student to work on the BKC Geek Team to help with IT and technology-related tasks at BKC .
Main tasks would include:
- Assisting in the management of web applications (eg mediawiki, wordpress, drupal) and tools (eg, apache/nginx, openstack, postgres, mysql).
- Helping consolidate and roll-up datasets for legacy BKC projects.
- Working with projects to identify solutions for their technical needs.
- Providing your expertise on technical systems around the BKC.
Depending on the candidate’s interests and skills, this position could potentially include:
- Managing linux systems and server hardware.
- Software development in python, php and/or ruby.
- Working with projects using FAS RC or BKC Lambda systems.
- Event and AV support.
About you:
- Passionate, curious about all things technology.
- Likes to find solutions to problems, automate repetitive tasks and debug complex systems.
- Comfortable explaining a technical process to less technically proficient people.
- Patient with both people, and inanimate objects.

Eligibility/Other information:
- This position is currently hybrid (remote and in-person meetings are both possible, though with preference for in-person during the semester).
- To be eligible for this position, you must be a currently enrolled student at Harvard University.
- The time commitment would range between 5 - 10 hours per week, but with some flexibility.
- The period of work would be through the rest of the academic year, with potential to carry on into the summer (depending on funding).
- Unless otherwise noted, the hourly wage for the above positions is $21 per hour.
- No other benefits are provided.
