On Public Media
Jake Shapiro, Berkman Fellow
Jake Shapiro and colleagues from the Public Radio Exchange discussed public media at this Berkman Luncheon Series. With new feed-driven ventures launching every other day, public media has some unique advantages in curating and distributing noncommercial content to large audiences. Jake spoke about PRX's new "Pubcatcher" project and other developments in the field. Some of the questions up for discussion are: What are the legal and business implications of redistributing or reaggregating feeds from various sources? How does public media's role shift with the explosion of citizen journalism and web-distributed independent content?
