Jim Willis provides government, non-profit and community organizations with innovative, free and open technology solutions that foster community, harness the power of social networks and increase civic participation.

Prior to launching Banyan Social Technology, Jim was Director of eGovernment for the Secretary of State of Rhode Island. His novel approaches to increasing government transparency and encouraging civic participation using open source software have received international recognition.

In addition to founding several organizations to facilitate the sharing of government data and software code, Jim developed Rhode Island's GovTracker services--an extensive, well-documented set of RESTful webservices for accessing public data.
