Hi!

I have been interested in researching about OSS from the late 1990s. After a few years of not publishing on the matter because I was involved in other projects (mostly public economics ones...), I have recently returned to it.

My primary interests about OSS lie in its economic organization; in specific, in its nontraditional organization of work and how this type of organization coevolves with technology. The specific theoretical lenses I have been using (so far) to analyze (alone as well as with coauthors) OSS organization are the classical division of labor theory of Adam Smith and the more recent modular theory of the firm. More recently, I have written a paper (with Y.R. Limam and B. Thomassen) that considers the economic growth implications of OSS organization of work and licenses that is forthcoming in Information Technology for Development; another paper, written with R. N. Langlois, that looks at the modular organization of OSS, has been submitted to Industry and Innovation.

I am an Italian citizen and I have studied and worked both in Italy and the USA; but I am currently (for a little over a year now...) a Senior Lecturer in Economics and Master Coordinator at the School of Economic and Business Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa.

Other research interests of mine are in development theory and policy, public economics, institutional economics and economic and technology policy. I have consulted with an Italian OSS for profit firm, and with the South African government through USAID funds. I enjoy photography as a hobby, though I seldom have time for it these days.
