Web Citizenship

The Idea

Datawatch.org (formerly known as Private Citizens) is an online privacy watchdog and pressure group that will:

- Collect privacy policies changes and updates on more than 150 websites

- Alert users who downloaded the browser plug-in on the changes made in the privacy policy of the website they are navigating on

- Make it easy for attorneys, scholars, and law students to translate policies into plain English and explain changes in policies.

- Consequently, identify bad practices and help users to take action in order to influence companies and to alert the FTC and any other relevant institution

- Incentivize businesses to comply with best practices and explain their privacy changes.

We have been using changedetection.com to monitor privacy policies and are currently looking for more efficient options.
