Web Citizenship
The Idea
Datawatch.org (formerly known as Private Citizens) is an online privacy watchdog and pressure group that will:
- Collect privacy policies changes and updates on more than 150 websites
- Alert users who downloaded the browser plug-in on the changes made in the privacy policy of the website they are navigating on
- Make it easy for attorneys, scholars, and law students to translate policies into plain English and explain changes in policies.
- Consequently, identify bad practices and help users to take action in order to influence companies and to alert the FTC and any other relevant institution
- Incentivize businesses to comply with best practices and explain their privacy changes.
