Ask for clarification. • Be as accurate as possible concerning times and places, where evidence was found, important words spoken by witnesses, and other details that help the jury form a picture in their minds. • Use proper pronunciation. Consult the dictionary in advance if you are unclear on a word you expect to have to say while testifying. • Do not mumble. • Avoid lazy speech or speech suggestive of a poor education. • Practice testimony in front of a mirror or another person, or record it with an audio or video recorder and study it prior to appearing in court.
