Intellecutal Property for Sustainable Energy, Tolland, CT: Nerac. Closson, 2009 - The author of this report argues that the wait time for patent approval is too long at the current time, and that inventors in the US should use the “petition to make special,” which covers sustainable technologies, and can reduce the time to approval. He also makes a case for using patent pools instead of patent thickets, and while these are not - by his estimation - a panacea, they will allow more effective access to the technology since sustainability technologies tend to involve a large number of different technologies combined with many of them being out of patent protection and in the public domain.
