Mara, 2009 - A short article in Intellectual Property Watch, which addresses the role of IP in climate change actions on the world stage, positing that incentivising investments in alternative energy technology will be necessary, and the way IP is treated can create a new landscape in IP law. In particular the article notes that TRIPS does not provide the flexibility to distinguish different types of technologies, and this could be an important differentiation for the future. Author suggests that WIPO will be a central party in these future IP discussions.
