Beyond Content: The Metadata of Abundance

The abundance that is of the Web is literally nothing but noise unless there is adequate metadata for finding our way through it, locating what's important, making sense of it, building on it, sharing it... What does and will this metadata look like? How standardized will it be? Who will control it? Will metadata set us free or lock us up, or both, or neither? (dw)

Brainstormy list of discussants:

  • Joan Mitchell (Dewey Decimal editor)
  • John Wilbanks (science commons)
  • Adam Smith (Google Print)
