The Clearinghouse is designed to capture the innovation and experimentation taking place in developing countries. It is also intended to channel resources and partners to projects that need them. "The initiative," as the Wall Street Journal reports (8/2/01), "is part of an effort to augment traditional foreign aid with private investment in the world's poorest countries." Clicking on a project name will bring up a short description, contact information, and basic data. One more click will bring up a wealth of supporting detail - potentially vast collections of documents, news, links, and photos about the project. Project managers will be able to submit and maintain up-to-date project profiles directly, on an ongoing basis.
