Is anyone going to Perens' presentation this Friday? It would be very
interesting with a report to the list from an eye-witness. See below for
additional details if you are not familiar with this event.
Infoworld reports that open source definition author and open source
advocate Bruce Perens will violate the Digital Millenium Copyright Act
("DMCA") this upcoming Friday. Perens will demonstrate how to circumvent
the digital rights management ("DRM") technology in a DVD player. The
presentation will take place on Friday afternoon at the O'Reilly Open
Source Convention in San Diego. When Russian programmer Dmitry Sklyarov
did a similar thing with Adobe's Ebook technology at the Defcon conference
last July, he was arrested by the FBI.
