The Public Radio Player iPhone app, funded by CPB and managed by PRX, was the first mobile app to provide a consolidated view of Public Radio.

PRX along with the Berkman Center at Harvard University would like to expand the audience and platforms for this app that has been downloaded by more than 2.5 million iPhone and iPod users. We are primarily interested in working with Google Summer of Code students to bring this popular app to Android and the web.

Students will participate in a team of talented, experienced developers, designers and business personnel. Students will be exposed to real world development processes in Java (Android) and Ruby on Rails (web) and be expected to deliver production ready code. The student will also be expected to participate in the application design process. The code that the students write will be actively viewed and maintained by the public media community.
