I blogged at Google Plus from July 9, 2011 until November 5, 2018. When Google [https://www.blog.google/technology/safety-security/project-strobe/ announced] in October 2018 that it would terminate G+ for users like me, and delete all our posts, I began saving them to the [https://archive.org/ Internet Archive] and other locations. The Internet Archive is also [https://www.reddit.com/r/plexodus/comments/az285j/saving_of_public_google_content_at_the_internet/ trying on its own] to capture all the public G+ posts from all G+ users. I hope to say more later on how these efforts turn out. Meantime, here are links to my ''major'' G+ posts. I list them here with the original G+ URLs (which may be useless after April 2, 2019) and their IA URLs. —[[Peter_Suber|Peter Suber]].
I blogged at [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google%2B Google Plus] (G+) from July 9, 2011 to November 5, 2018. In October 2018, Google [https://www.blog.google/technology/safety-security/project-strobe/ announced] that it would terminate G+ for users like me, and delete all our posts. I was [https://twitter.com/petersuber/status/1091738245082333185 not happy] about it.
* Altogether I wrote more than 1,400 posts for G+. Here I list just 64.

* Altogether I wrote more than 1,400 posts for G+.
* Here I list 68. I started with a smaller number. But I add new ones as I find them randomly saved to the IA.

FWIW, I made the IA copies in reverse chrono order, using the IA Chrome extension. All the ones above had HTTP URLs and all the ones below had HTTPS URLs. Looks like IA changed its practice while I was in the middle of this job. I tried changing some of the URLs above to HTTPS and they still worked. Hence, trusting that sample, I changed the rest of the URLs above to HTTPs. I haven't changed any of the URLs below. -->

Revision as of 14:34, 14 February 2020

I blogged at Google Plus (G+) from July 9, 2011 to November 5, 2018. In October 2018, Google announced that it would terminate G+ for users like me, and delete all our posts. I was not happy about it.

I began saving my G+ posts to the Internet Archive (IA) and other locations. IA is also trying on its own to capture all the public G+ posts from all G+ users. I hope to say more later on how these efforts turn out.

Meantime, here are my major G+ posts. I list them here with the original G+ URLs (even if they become useless after April 2, 2019) and the newer, permanent IA URLs. —Peter Suber.

  • Altogether I wrote more than 1,400 posts for G+.
  • Here I list 68. I started with a smaller number. But I add new ones as I find them randomly saved to the IA.
  • For my older blog, Open Access News (2002-2010), see my details elsewhere.
  • Most recent first, just like a blog.
