The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University seeks an experienced, motivated, and charismatic Center Coordinator to support our dynamic, high-functioning research center. The Center Coordinator will advance the Center’s core functions by supporting a wide range of administrative and operational tasks, assisting our extensive community of scholars, and bolstering our events team. The Center Coordinator will help to take—and keep—the pulse of the Center and will have an important impact on the day-to-day functioning and long-term energy of our office.
Support Space, Operations, and Administrative Functions:
Perform reception duties for in-person, email, and phone contacts and inquiries; ensure a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere by being attentive to the needs of visitors.
Support daily use of Center space including management of daily schedules, calendars, and meeting rooms. Serve as a point of contact for use of the Harvard Law School Event Management System (EMS) for space booking and allocation.
Oversee Center’s physical space and coordinate closely with Harvard Law School facilities office and other University departments to facilitate the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of office space, furniture, and equipment; coordinate office/space moves and relocations; oversee ID access and key distribution; order office and kitchen supplies; organize and stock copy room supplies.
Assist with event preparations including management of invitations, RSVP lists, event registration and confirmation, email, and print communications, material/badge printing, coordinating shipment of events supplies, outreach and publicity, and event metrics.
Arrange event and meeting travel and lodging, and assist with related reimbursements, invoices, and expenses.
Work closely with Berkman Klein staff and community to support meetings and events, including booking space and event support; organizing and overseeing catering, attending events to support their emergent needs, and coordinating other logistical tasks.
3 or more years of experience in office administration or related field. Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for people who have:
Experience providing complex, administrative support in a dynamic professional environment.
Solid proficiency with a wide range of digital technologies, including MS Office and Google Docs.
Strong and effective communication skills for phone, written, and in-person interactions.
Familiarity with Internet issues, interest in interdisciplinary social science scholarship.
Flexibility and adaptability.
Previous event planning experience would be helpful, but not required.
