Steven E. Hendrix


Steven E. Hendrix is a lawyer licensed in Civil Law (Bolivia) and Common Law (Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, D.C.) jurisdictions. Since January 1997, he has worked directly for USAID in Guatemala, managing the justice portfolio of activities in that country, which include modernization of the courts, public prosecution, public defender service, Bar Association and public law school. Prior to working at USAID, he was named to the University of Wisconsin Land Tenure Center, where he performed research on land regularization and land tenure issues in twenty different countries in the Americas, also serving as USAID's senior land tenure advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean. He has over 20 professional and academic journal publications, plus a book in Spanish on changes and innovation in legal frameworks for land tenure in Latin America. He is bilingual (Spanish/English), with a bachelor's degree in Economics and Spanish (BA), an MA in Ibero-American Studies, plus law degrees from the University of Wisconsin (JD), the Universidad Mayor de San Andres (Doctor en Derecho, Bolivia) and the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (SJD).
