Hi folks, in advance of VRM day, I thought it might be useful to note some progress.

Change of Address, i.e. the ability for an individual to update multiple suppliers at the same time that she has moved house, was the first use case we focused on in Project VRM.

That turned out to be nowhere easy as we thought, mainly because the organisation side did not pick up on the concept as something they would value; i.e. they could not see beyond the world where each organisation maintains their own customer static data.

That lack of adoption remains the case, although I think the reasons these days are more driven by organisations' desire to set the terms around data sharing.

No matter, that dam will break. It probably won’t be change of postal address that breaks that dam, but it remains a good use case as the components and processes are broadly the same for sharing other data (e.g. buying intentions).

In any case, i’ve written up and visualised how JLINC delivers on the change of address use case at the link below.

Any questions or thoughts on it let me know.

Cheers

Iain
