Bill, I will attend at least the start of the conference.  Although as it starts at 1 am our time I made fade after awhile.

The platform coop I am working on is a Crowdfunding platform for Co-op loans.  But they are not loans as we traditionally know them.  They are loans where there is no cost of interest, and there is no cost of money inflation.  Any Co-op can use the approach to obtain funds to build their projects.  Here is an outline of the idea.  https://kevinrosscox.me/2016/11/11/crowdfunding-cooperatives/

I am working on an outline for different types of Co-ops.  As promised here is an outline of a real estate crowdfunding co-op.  https://kevinrosscox.me/2016/11/11/a-housing-crowdfunding-co-op/

It should be attractive to most buyers of houses as it halves the cost of owning a home. It should be attractive to long-term savers as it gives them a way of buying an annuity that offers an inflation-adjusted annuity of 8% fixed per year.

This is relevant to ProjectVRM because loans are credit and credit is data.  My credit is my data and Crowdfunding Co-ops gives me control over my credit data and provides a way for me to co-operate with others who wish to give me and others loans.  It is better than the existing Loans system because it strips away layers of complexity and costs because we collaborate with others to cover the risk of individual credit rather than leaving it up to a third party - like a bank - to cover the risk.

With the goal above in mind, is anyone attending the #PlatformCoop conference in person this weekend in NYC or virtually?  I'd like to explore the possibility of building a P2P housing / real estate platform:

Viewing parties scheduled in NYC & Montreal.  Boston or Miami anyone?  If you visit the Facebook page, you'll see that there's an effort to seed a mini-hack, too.

Various thoughts that popped into my head last night as I vainly tried to sleep.

I worry greatly about raising the money to last through uncertain times but I think in some ways there is a stronger case for the Lumenous platform (and others like those we discuss here in the VRM community).

We build this community of small businesses in spite of partisanship. Banks with the capacity to engage will do so but I have always wanted it to be possible for and business owners have told me they can see how self-managing credit circles and peer-to-peer lending communities could emerge to fill in the gap.

That's the vision I have for how we get through the next 12-24 months. More of us who can will introduce technology-enabled platforms that allow good people to connect around getting real work done, without and in spite of government.

We will inspire self-determination and self-sovereignty, increasingly in the context of communities. Utilitarian in day-to-day value but fully connected to the egalitarian ideals of The Cluetrain Manifesto, Intention Economy, and more.

Best to all,

LaVonne
