email is by its very nature an unmediated communications medium, a "dumb pipe." And that's why people like email. The fact is that Google, and companies like Google, hate unmediated anything.
Wherever you look these days, vendor actions all seem to be determined by a power grab in one way or another. Whatever happened to “the vendor exists to serve the customer?”
Which is why one of the values on my company’s front page is "We do what is right for the customer.” Makes us a small minority I guess.
