Yes, that's another no-much-of-a-business model: selling your readers
eyeballs (because a VRM facility that let's them pay you for your work with
their money instead of their eyeballs has not yet been developed).

As VRM ascends, so selling-eyeballs descends.

Why degrade your product if you are paid in full for it by your customers?

And if customers are given the VRM facilty to communicate with vendors,
vendors correspondingly need less of a facility to broadcast their message
to everyone (in the hopes of reaching a fraction of their potential
customers).
