Not sure if it's on anyone's radar, but there's a bit of buzz on TED relating to the awareness/transparency/control/accountability of personal data (link below).  Jennifer Golbeck from Univ of Md has a TED talk with north of 1 million views and it's getting some weekend promotional exposure via Huffpo.  

In support there's a few blogs that tease out the various ways that data is leveraged/exploited and insights are captured from innocuous fb likes (disclosure: mine is one them). No surprise, but the discussion is somewhat lacking/absent on the comments. 

The thought was that if one or two VRMers have any Sunday morning comments in them it might help raise the public narrative a bit.  If nothing else, weighing in gave me an opportunity to work through some mid-life issues by incorporating data-driven anxieties with quotes from indy-rock gods R.E.M.
