It was recently suggested to me that iodine <http://www.iodine.com/> might be a VRM-in-heath care thing.

The "about" pitch: "Iodine combines large healthcare datasets with a user's individual needs and background to create a personalized resource for better understanding and decision-making about health." Not sure how that works, but thoughts are welcome.

State surveillance is very active in healthcare and it's costing all of us $ thousands a year. Almost all states collect and store information about insurance claims and prescriptions. Many collect information about our health records. This information is used to prop up a health care system that has no price or quality transparency and each of us paying for it at a level that makes other surveillance costs seem trivial.

One is say "Amen," because I'm in spiritual alignment with the .coms, .nets and .orgs whose logos appear under the title. (The ones I know, anyway, and I don't know them all. Yet.) 

Another is to say, "Why not surveillance in general — and especially by the online advertising business?" That stuff is in our faces, our browsers, our heads and our underwear, every day. Worse, they model what we now know the NSA does.

More of an inflection hammer, really.  A repeat of the Internet blackout that stopped SOPA in the US is planned for February 11^th, on the anniversary date of Aaron Swartz's passing.  Obviously, I'd like you to participate and black out your web site, but as it relates to VRM this is perhaps the most visible and largest scale demonstration against mass surveillance yet.  The Summer of Snowden is becoming the winter of our discontent.
