I want to address this one issue separately.

ProjectVRM's mission has always been to urge development of tools for
individuals that provide both independence and means for engagement.

Independence so developments respect and enable each of us as individual
human beings.

Engagement (the R in VRM) so we get along with the systems in the world, as
well as other human beings.

It is hard to focus on independence and not borrow from the libertarian
lexicon (e.g. sovereignty, liberty, and independence itself).

It is also important to focus on independence in an age when centralized
power, and "social" functions within those centralized systems are the
obvious and best-funded solutions to problems — including, ironically, those
created by other centralized systems.

It might also be interesting to ponder what would be left of technology and
civilization if we were to subtract libertarian moralizers from the world —
or if we ignored the tones of voice used by persons whose liberty,
independence, ability to engage or hope for privacy is clearly threatened.
