Good blog post.  There is a complementary
idea to DNT that looks very promising:
  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=565965

This would accept third-party tracking cookies, but
not let them track across sites.  This is probably
what you want for things like "like buttons" and
analytics.  A little disappointing that the Mozilla
project has let it drop.

The Tor project has had some good discussions of
tracking threat models, and the result is some good
design ideas here:

Many are relevant to a non-Tor browser as well.
