Judi, Rex, Doc - thanks for the cleanup. I don't know about anyone else, but I absolutely despise wiki spam and the kind of abuse it represents. In fact that was one of the motivations for creating the Respect Trust Framework and its social vouching system. The goal is a reputation network that any site could use to filter out spammers while letting anyone with legitimate intent constructively contribute.

Judi and I just spent the last hour and forty-one minutes on Skype, co-blasting most of the spam out of the wiki. Mostly we just kept hitting "Random page," and deleting the bad ones. At the start most random pages were spam ones; and by the end we had to click about twenty times to find another spam page. So there's probably some lint left in there, but most of it is gone. The 900 or so fake users are still on the list, but Judi went through and blocked/deleted the worst offenders.

Still left is some spam buried deep in existing pages, but on the whole the wiki is fairly cleaned up now, and back to being useful again.

So, a huge thanks to Judi, and to others (notably Rex) who weighed in too.
