User customization?
or
Denial dial?
"Make it less creepy" filter?
For some time, Google has been working at giving us "usefulness"
tools to help us discover ways to understand what they're doing
(to a limited extent--with Take Out) and why we might wish to
trust them with our deep personal info (like the speech rec &
Google Now). The fact that Google also randomly drops some of
their useful products without so much as a "hey user" doesn't help
with that whole trust thing much (securing your account from whom,
exactly?). Ultimately Google is a big, lumbering beast that feeds
their shareholders with best-guess data shredding. Positioning
themselves as personal teddy bears? "yeah, not so much" say many
of us.
