I talked about “THEIR things or OUR things?” to IoT Silicon Valley this week. While much of this is old news to this group, what is new its application to the internet of things — which, as of course everybody knows now — is supposed to be tens of billions of new devices in the next few years, and > $1 trillion in revenue. Even if you discount the numbers, it’s big in any case, and much harder to dislodge than other “internet stuff” given we’ll nail and glue and mortar it into our houses. So it matters.

I picked a few new terms / contrast, e.g. the “overlord strategy” vs. the “indie strategy”. And attempted to be as specific as possible why we don’t want overlords, and it’s not just about privacy.
