If we have no information privacy we will be unable to lie in our online communications. As a species we have found it necessary to lie in our everyday interactions.  The same is true for electronic communications.  We need to be able to lie for society to function.  The reason may be that "the truth" is fuzzy and we know others do not see things the way we do and so misinterpret what is said.
