The ECPM blog (see below) tends to point out material relevant to VRM. Today, they followed up on the MIT Technology Review piece on Datacoup (posted here on 2/25) with a link to an interesting piece written two years ago by Jerry Neumann, which analyzes the core business numbers underlying ad tech. But Neumann’s piece, in turn, contains a link to a 2006 Business Week article by Robert Hof on Root Exchange – “the first marketplace for trading Internet leads.” If I recall correctly, that content came out just about the time when Doc planted the Intention Economy seed, one of whose sprouts is this listing. I thought then that Seth Goldman was on to something, but the ‘Roots’ business model never took off, despite its deep-pocket investors. Does anyone recall Root Market and why it collapsed? Own your own personal data @ganeumann Posted: 05 Mar 2014 07:48 AM PST You'd think 6 yrs of adtech investing would disqualify me from being the own-your-personal-data guy. I've gone over to the dark side people.— I was too lazy to hunt for @ganeumann‘s blog post to link to this article I posted last week but after the tweet above, I decided to put in the work: Your personal data is not worth anywhere near what you think it’s worth Nathan Schor 305.632.1368
