I'm going to try to attend that DMI workshop in Boston. It might be a good opportunity to talk about the Omie project from Customer Commons. What do you think, Doc and Iain?

Looks like I'm up. Has anyone been in direct contact with them, or should I just respond to the LinkedIn thread and see what happens?

Cheers!

I've lost a lot of email (at least temporarily), so I don't know whether this got a response or not; but I want to make sure it doesn't slip through the cracks. I'm in Boston a bit less these days, so I'm hoping some locals can respond to this.

I received the following from a LinkedIn Service Design Network group to which I belong.

Aldo de Jong has started a discussion: Do you have interesting examples of personalised services leveraging personal data?

"I am curious to hear from the community what they think about Small Data or leveraging personal data to enable personalised services. There is a hype around Big Data. We believe however that the opportunity for leveraging personal data for the individual is much more interesting than for companies trying to trade or sell the data or data mining it. It's a personal data economy of personalised services. Some interesting examples are Foursquare - recommending places, Simple making sense of your personal finances, or ginger.io predicting mental health problems, all based on your personal data. What examples do you have? We'd like to use these examples in the DMI workshop we are hosting to explore the value of personal data:http://www.dmi.org/dmi/html/conference/annual13/workshop_service_design.jsp"

The event they need help with is the Design Management Institute's seminar on Service Design for Personalised Experiences in Boston. I wonder whether anyone from the VRMProject based in Boston would be interested in working with them on the seminar. It might be a good opportunity to understand how the service design profession is starting to think about personal data services. I am sure there is value in such a collaboration.

Best regards from Bristol, Graham
