On the one hand, I've never felt fully comfortable talking about advertising
here, because that's not what VRM is about.

On the other hand, the tide of push-back by individuals and media (and
friends here on this list) against liberties taken by ad-supported Web
services and sites is starting to look like a Tsunami. Even if it isn't,
surf's up. VRM developers are well-positioned to ride it.

In that piece I suggest we make "going direct" a topic at IIW. Whether that
interests you or not, IIW is our show, and if you're on this list you should
