Markus, I would suggest doing a session on this at IIW - I'd like to learn more.

Best,

Hello,

After the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in 2003/2005, annual "Forum" events have been held, and by 2015 there will be an overall review.
Last month I was at a WSIS preparatory meeting in Geneva (held by ITU).

I am wondering if it would make sense for our initiatives (VRM, Personal Data Ecosystem, Federated Social Web, Next Net) to engage with the WSIS process.
I mentioned them briefly at the meeting, and there was quite some interest.
While the ITU and WSIS processes may be dominated by governments and big corporations, there are also significant civil society actors involved.
At least the people I talked to seemed genuinely interested in reaching out to projects/communities that actually make things happen.

E.g. at the next WSIS Forums there could be a "Personal Data Ecosystem" workshop or a "Next Net" workshop, presenting the values and major projects in these areas.

It would be trivial to argue why our communities promote the values of the UN charter, WSIS outcome documents, human rights and various UN declarations/resolutions.
