Take your example...a few hundred buck and you got 100 submissions...so that ended up being semi-wasted time/work/energy for 99 of the designers...

The problem with 'contest' crowdsourcing sites like this is that there is a lot of waste in the process.

Not sure how to solve the problem though...and I guess that if designers weren't making money, then they wouldn't be there in the first place.  But I hope that everyone can see my points.
