Sure. It's just a terminological issue really. What term means 'online
payment for intellectual work'? Micropayments? Digital patronage?

Yes, not many see this Cambrian explosion coming (as opposed to the sky
falling in).

But again, many who have an inkling only see as far as
donation/gratuity/tipping. micropledge.com was a good try by folk who
recognised the potential for trade/exchange.
