Session Nine Summary:
Information Piracy

Douglas Lichtman, Fellow of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, was the guest speaker for this session. DL argued that information piracy—including illegal copying of software—can be socially desirable. Software manufacturers implicitly acknowledge this, DL contended, by pricing their products based on the expectation that some owners will let others copy their software illegally.ome users will let their family members, classmates, and colleagues copy it illegally.
