On October 1, 2000 the ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) membership will begin voting in the first online election to select five new At-Large Directors for ICANN. In the North-American region, including the United States and Canada, there are seven candidates running for the single spot designated for a North-American director, and over 15,000 North-American ICANN members are eligible to vote. The elected director will be charged with representing the Internet community at-large in decisions of technical management, coordination, and policy for unique Internet identifiers including domain names and IP addresses.

On October 2, the Berkman Center for Internet & Society and the Internet Democracy Project are hosting the seven North-American candidates for a in-person event, webcast with remote participation, in which the North-American At-Large candidates will engage in an informal dialogue and participate in a formal candidate debate.

Please note that these events are not sponsored by, nor affiliated with, ICANN.

If you plan to attend, in person or via webcast, please register.
