StopBadware
StopBadware.org is a partnership among academic institutions, technology industry leaders, and volunteers, all of whom are committed to protecting Internet and computer users from the threats to privacy and security that are caused by bad software. We are a leading independent authority on trends in badware and its distribution, and a focal point for the development of collaborative, community-minded approaches to stopping badware. We invite you to join our community, to help reduce the impact of badware and to regain control of our computers.
Web Community Platform
We're looking to build an open source web community platform with an innovative reputation and rating system. Some of our initial ideas are incorporated in BadwareBusters.org, the newly launched community site from Consumer Reports WebWatch and the Berkman Center's StopBadware.org.
Possible features of the platform include:
- User reputation based on value of contributions to the community
- Weighted voting/influence based on user reputation
- Integrated design elements that seamlessly highlight top-rated content
- Community self-moderation of content
- Collaborative content editing with influence/permissions based on user reputation
Skills required: Ruby on Rails, JavaScript
