Introduction

In 1982, six families in Woburn, Massachusetts, filed a lawsuit against the Cryovac plant of W.R. Grace, the John J. Riley Tannery, Beatrice Foods, and other unnamed defendants, alleging that chemicals dumped by those defendants reached the plaintiffs' drinking water, causing leukemia in members of those families.
