The Leukemia Victims All Lived Near Each Other

The home of Anne Anderson is just off Pine Street in east Woburn. Jimmy Anderson, her youngest child, died of acute lymphocytic leukemia in 1981, at the age of 12.

The Andersons' home is a few minutes walk from the homes of Lauren and Richard Aufiero, Kevin and Patricia Kane, and Joan Zona. Jarrod Aufiero died in 1982, at the age of 3, of acute lymphocytic leukemia. Kevin Kane, Jr. was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in 1973 and is in remission. Michael Zona died in 1974, at the age of 7, from acute lymphocytic leukemia.
Donna Robbins and her sons Kevin and Robbie lived a short walk north of downtown Woburn. Robbie Robbins died of acute lymphocytic leukemia in 1976, at the age of 9. Pete Gamache and his family lived near the Andersons and the Zonas. Pete Gamache died of chronic myelogenous leukemia in 1986, during the trial, at age 38. Patrick Toomey and his family lived around the corner from the Kanes. Patrick Toomey died of acute lymphocytic leukemia in 1979, at the age of 11.
