These field trips would be designed primarily to fill the difference in available time between the HLS students who have no other class commitments and the SLS students who have their full winter schedule in effect.

Once the list of students enrolled in the course is finalized we will solicit them for fieldtrip ideas.

  • Visit to offices of Google, Microsoft, Facebook etc
    • Ideally these office visits would correspond to the speakers from industry that are involved in the course
  • Computer History Museum in Mountain View
    • right by Google's HQ
  • Wikipedia Bay Area meetup
    • These don't seem to be scheduled too far in advance, so we would need to pick one closer to the start of the course
  • Visit to NASA Ames research Center
    • Maybe not so relevant? - but very cool nonetheless
    • JZ knows a bunch of ppl there, and also could broach a visit to Singularity University
