When you want to make a statement, but the dresses and handbags in your wardrobe just aren’t cutting it, what else do you wear? A common misconception about high-end clothes is that you are only paying for the label. The exclusivity that is stereotypically associated with these higher prices, may mean that you have only ever come across designer clothes in the window of high-end shops or on the catwalk. But that should not necessarily be the case. Designer clothes are timeless investments that will remain fashionable for years to come. In this article, we will look more into what high end clothes are all about.

What Makes Designer Clothes Different?

Typically, designer brands have their own in-house designers who draw their own inspiration from various sources such as art, history or pop culture. As opposed to mass manufacturing, these new and innovative pieces that are designed can then be hand produced in exclusive locations, using quality materials. These products then set the trends which high-street and department stores will follow.

As expected, these events and additional resources used to create designer items are much more time-consuming and expensive than creating high-street products. This is one of the main contributing factors to the high prices of these kinds of clothes. Yet many people perceive designer labels to only be synonymous with high prices due to the name of the brand.

But it is important to remember that although designer labels may be more expensive, it costs them a lot of time, money and resources to create items. On the other hand, high-street brands take pre-existing trending designs and mass manufacture them within a very quick turnaround time. This allows them to charge a considerably less amount of money for products. Yet these products are typically low in quality and longevity and so cheaper items can become defective over a short space of time.

With more time, money and resources comes added quality. Because of this, designer items can last for several years, if not decades. In fact, these items typically hold onto their value over these years and decades. Some even increase in value. In this way, purchasing designer clothes should be seen as an investment that can (quite literally) last a lifetime.

magcloud isn’t just about the money though. It’s also about the look of the item. From details as small as buttons to their innovative and refreshing design, designer items are sure to impress. They are ahead of their time and are sure to have your friends and family alike in awe.

Ethical Considerations

It should be noted that designer items also are accompanied by improved ethics than that of high-street chains. This is a result of the creation process. When high-street designers produce clothes they do so on a mass-production basis. To achieve this, many workers are required to produce items on a fast scale. One form of such a workplace is called a ‘workshop’. Garment workshops are renowned for their low rate of pay, difficult working conditions and poor employee welfare.

On the other hand, designer brands are typically found to have positive working conditions. Not only is this because of materials being sourced from small manufacturers, but also because of the quality of clothing which designers want to achieve. High-quality cannot be achieved if workers lack expertise in the clothing industry. It also cannot be achieved if garments are made within minutes. Creating high-quality, long lasting clothes requires skill and time. Because of this, working conditions are favorable.

Another way in which designer clothes are more ethical, is due to its heightened sustainability. Designer brands create fewer items of clothing than high-street brands. Not only does this mean that designer brands create less emissions than high-street brands, they also create less waste which is currently a large worldwide issue. By using up less of the world’s resources, filling up less landfills and minimising travel, designer labels are less likely to harm the environment than high-street labels. Waste is also minimised by the high-quality of garments allowing them to last longer.

All in all, designer accessories and clothing offer great style, quality and sustainability. They may be more on the pricey side, but they are an investment that can help you to make a statement for years to come.
