Alternative Energy/IP Profile of Associations in AE

From Commons Based Research
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Answer the questions:

Are there associations in this field/market (business associations, university associations, professional associations) that are relevant for the IP debate in this field? Identify their policies, recommendations and/or best practices related to IP of their members.

After an initial review of the leading associations it appears that the associations focus more on information exchange, standards, and promotion of the field than intellectual property management.

  • Material Consulted to Date:
    • Primary materials created by the associations (web sites, white papers, brochures. etc) did not reveal positions on IP protection
    • limited law review and other journals have been consulted with similar results
    • This is an area that might best be understood through interviews with association leaders.
      • Possible candidates include:
        • Rhone Resch - President and Chief Executive Officer of Solar Energy Industry Association [1]
