- Obama administration wants to provide the same regulation for producing generic biotech drugs as they do for generic pharma drugs
- Fear that by lowering costs of prescription drugs through Medicare and Medicaid, could eat into Biotech industry's profits
- Obama ends ban on new lines of stem cell research - could encourage new biotech work. 8,000 jobs in Michigan alone, 5,000 in New York
