Cnet News.com columnist Sonia Arrison has an interesting take on the
digital divide:
'The digital divide is not a crisis, and it is certainly not the civil
liberties issue of the 21st century. The real issues are the sorry state
of education and the push to raise the taxes that affect lower income
families most.'
I think her perspective might be in some respects too narrow. Do we really
have to define 'the most important issue'? I agree with Arrison that
education probably is more important than access for all, but that doesn't
make the latter issue a non-issue per se.
